Are you overwhelmed and having trouble balancing your life as a mom? I know how it can be; we have all been there!
Finding a stable balance takes work, but a stable balance could help you feel less overwhelmed and get more done in less time.
Take advantage of these simple ways to maintain balance when feeling overwhelmed.
1. LET THE GUILT GO
Sometimes as mothers, we get discouraged when we can't fulfill every demand. Let the guilt go! Even though guilt is a normal emotion, you must let it go.
Instead of feeling guilty, let that guilt inspire you to do better. We, as parents, are not perfect; we will never be. That's why I find it most important to focus on the positive.
Below is a list of things to do when you start feeling stress out:
Go for a Walk
Read Self Improvement/ Parenting Books
Have a Cup of Stress Relieving Tea
Ask for Help or Reach Out to Someone for Support
Call a Friend or Relative That Gives Great Advice
Try to Figure Out How You Can Do Better Next Time
Take a Break or Sleep it off
2. HAVE A MOM MOMENT FOR YOURSELF
You should block out a little me time, whether you're stressed or not.
No, this is not selfish! The best time to do this is when you are alone or the kids are sleeping. Try to squeeze in your me-time during school hours, naptimes, bedtimes, and early mornings before your kids wake up.
3. PLAN AHEAD
Whenever you are going to have busy days, always plan. However, when planning, focus on the more significant tasks first.
The first thing that you should do is write everything down. Then, make a detailed list of every task you have to complete.
How to plan your meals on busy days?
Prep and plan all meals.
Always keep a few frozen meal options on hand. Frozen meals are affordable and great for busy nights.
Below are more ways to help you maintain busy days.
Get Your Families Clothes Out the Night Before
Iron or Spray Clothes with Wrinkle Releaser the Night Before
Hang Undergarments with Clothes
Plan Your Day the Night Before
Go to Bed on Time and Wake-up Early
Work From a List (As mentioned above)
Use a Crockpot to Have Dinner on the Table On Time
Use Griddle to Save Time in the Mornings
Use Insta-pots and Air Fryers for Fast Meals and Easy Clean-ups
4.ELIMNATE DISTRACTIONS
On busy days, you should try to eliminate all distractions. For example, if you love social media, you should block specific times of the day when you will go on social media.
I personally love Pinterest and YouTube. So, make time for both whenever I have downtime, but only if I have the time.
5. USE A FAMILY CALENDAR
If you do not have one already, you need a family calendar. A family calendar will help you stay organized by keeping everything in one place.
My planner helps me stay organized and also helps me stay aware of all upcoming events and appointments. I like to plan my weeks on Sundays and add to my list as needed.
6. FIND A SUPPORT GROUP
If you are lacking support, try support groups. In this day and age, finding help is pretty easy with all of the different resources out there. Support groups are not for everyone, but they might be helpful to some.
The best thing about support groups is you can do them face-to-face or join virtually.
7. EMBRACE THE JOURNEY & HAVE FUN
Embrace the journey, your journey, and have fun with your kids. When my kids were younger, I was constantly stressed and overwhelmed.
Now, I look back and wish I could’ve had a conversation with my younger self; just to let her know that I would be alright. And let her know to embrace the journey because everything will eventually fall into God's plan.
8. BECOME ORGANIZED
While becoming organized can sometimes be difficult, it is necessary. It is essential to tidy up and keep your home organized for it to function properly.
Becoming and staying organized can help you feel less overwhelmed and stressed.
9. PRACTICE SELF-CARE
Practicing self-care is highly important. But, unfortunately, when having kids and being a spouse or single mother, we sometimes put ourselves on the back burner.
Nevertheless, it is important to practice self-care. Sometimes we are so used to caring for everyone that we forget to care for ourselves.
Plan at least one self-care day a week, if nothing else. This will be the day you take time and focus on yourself.
10. OUTSOURCE SERVICES
Getting help with tasks through outsourcing can be a great way to save time. When you're too busy or don't have the time to complete certain tasks, home delivery services can be a lifesaver. Nowadays, it's not just food that can be delivered, but many other items as well.
What can you outsource?
Groceries
Laundry (If you don't have a washer and dryer.)
Meal Planning Services
Medications

11. CREATE ROUTINES AND SCHEDULES
Creating and having routines and schedules will help you maintain your sanity. I created routines and schedules for just about everything.
What are routines and schedules best for?
The morning/ Wake-up times
Eating and Cooking
Laundry
Paying Bills
